New Year, New Look

You may have noticed I changed the look of my blog a little bit. Let me know if you like or don't like it.

So todays post is going to be a few musical recommendations. One is a band you probably heard of, a band you probably never heard of, and an artist I can almost guarantee you never heard of.

The band you probably heard of is the Shins, their new album Wincing the Night Away. It is their third full lenght cd. Most people say it isn't as good as their first two (which I never heard). I think it is an excellent album and worth giving a listen.
Tracks to download:Sleeping Lessons, Phantom Limb, Black Wave

You probably also heard of Bloc Party. Another newish critically acclaimed British band released their follow up to Silent Alarm yesterday. A Weekend In the City still has the same Bloc Party sound but the songs seem more creative and the lyrics easier to relate/understand than their first album. And I also think the cover kicks butt.
Tracks to download: The Prayer, On, Sunday

And the artist you never heard of, Simmon M Harris. He is a guy I met on a coldplay message board who just released his new album Fortress of Words yesterday. It is available for free download and if you really like it you can buy it off his site http://www.simonharris.uk.tt/. To here a few of the songs to see if you like visit his myspace: www.myspace.com/simonmharris/.

The vocals and piano are excellent. His influences include Coldplay, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Pink Floyd, and Sigur Rós. Check it out.
