I'm not going to upload music onto my blog for mixtapes. Instead I found a free, legal, and easy to use website to make your own mixtapes. So I'll be using that from now on. Plus there will be an easy link to it on the side of my blog.

Fall Mixtape

It has been a while. June was the last time I posted a mixtape. For the months of July and August I was working at camp so I didn't really have time to make a mixtape. September, well I have no excuse really. But what I have decided to do is a "fall mixtape" that covers what I've been listening to the last couple months. I will have one more "winter mixtape" at the end of November, and then a "Best of 2008" year end mixtape.
This mixtape features seven songs by artists I have seen in the past couple months or will be seeing soon. (City and Colour, Bloc Party, Wintersleep, Apostle of Hustle, Jose Gonzalez, Stars, Jason Collett).

June Mixtape

After not buying any cds for over a month, I went on a little binge this month. I purchased British Sea Powers first two albums, David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Portishead - Third, Coldplay - Viva La Vida, Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid. So this mixtape reflects those purchases. As well a new band I am completely blown away by is on here; Fleet Foxes.

May Mixtape

The May mixtape includes a few more "upbeat" songs than the past few have. Heroes is on here for obvious reasons (camp theme, and I've been working on the skit for it). I thought one of the new Nine Inch Nails songs might be included, but no song on that album has really stood out for me. The mixtape for April comes a few weeks late, but that is because of the fact I have been out of town or really busy with school all month so far. But alas, the setlist has been made. Since it is from April it does not include any of the new Coldplay or Nine Inch Nails songs.

March Mixtape

This months mixtape has a darker theme running throughout. Many of the songs are of the post-punk genre (Interpol, Editors, Joy Division). There are also some songs that deal with loneliness (Neil Young, Apostle of Hustle). And just some other songs that I have been enjoying over the past month. I guess when you're in the middle of a long cold winter, and also are missing some of your best friends your music choices tend to reflect that.

February Mixtape

Here is the February Mixtape.
The first 5 songs are by artists on the Arts & Crafts Label. I bought Stars, Feist, and Broken Social Scene this month have been enjoying those albums.
Also another great album is the new one by City and Colour. It still amazes me that the lead singer from Alexisonfire makes such beautiful folk music.

January Mixtape

This year I am going to be making a mixtape (basically a collection of songs) at the end of each month. This mix will include songs and artists that I have been listening to most frequently in the past month.

So here is the January mix. I bought seven albums over the Christmas break so I had alot of new music to listen to the past month. The album that stuck out the most however will not be released in North America for another week. That album being "Do You Like Rock Music" by British Sea Power. Also I have been indulging in electronica music, particularly Justice. Also in the mix are some Canadian legends; Neil Young and Bruce Cockburn.
