3. Broken Social Scene Presents: Brendan Canning - Something For All of Us
This is my Canadian Arts & Crafts bias pouring right through. I bought this album just because I knew it would pretty much just be another Broken Social Scene album with somebody else in control. While it is pretty predictable what it will sound like, Brendan Canning did bring some interesting new twists to the BSS repertoire. As the title suggests, there is something for all of us. We have our usual BSS opening tracks with layered guitars. We also have our softer songs such as Chameleon and Been At It So Long (featuring Amy Milan from Stars). We have a straight up rock single in Hit the Wall. We have the groovy sounds of Love is New. Brendan was upset that his album leaked and people downloaded it before it was released, but don't worry, I waited for it to come out. It was well worth the wait. The album has definitely grown on me.
